Mutares Completes Acquisition of S.M.A. Metalltechnik to Enhance SFC Group’s Automotive Cooling and Thermal Management Capabilities

(IN BRIEF) Mutares SE & Co. KGaA has acquired S.M.A. Metalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG, a company specializing in the manufacturing of impermeable aluminium pipes for automotive cooling applications. This acquisition will strengthen SFC Group’s capabilities in climate control and thermal management systems, enhancing its product offering and customer base. S.M.A. Metalltechnik, headquartered in Germany with facilities in South Africa, Romania, and China, is expected to generate EUR 160 million in revenue in 2025. The acquisition expands SFC Group’s presence in the automotive fluid transfer systems market.

KG and its subsidiaries, marking a strategic expansion for the SFC Group. This new addition, specializing in the development and manufacturing of highly impermeable aluminium pipes, will significantly enhance SFC’s capabilities in climate control and thermal management systems for the automotive sector.

Headquartered in Backnang, Germany, S.M.A. Metalltechnik is renowned for its expertise in producing aluminium pipes used in cooling media, essential for automotive applications such as interior climate control and battery cooling. With manufacturing facilities across Germany, South Africa, Romania, and China, the company has established strong, long-term relationships with major automotive customers. Employing around 1,500 people globally, S.M.A. Metalltechnik is projected to generate revenues of approximately EUR 160 million in 2025.

This acquisition strengthens SFC Group’s position in the fluid transfer systems market, complementing its existing range of products that serve the automotive industry.
